Clem West – Improved my quality of life post transplant

Personal training from Ashleigh was a Christmas gift to me from my kids.  I am presently a 70+ year old man and a heart transplant recipient.  My kids were concerned that I really had no concept of an exercise program and wanted me to take better care of myself.  They purchased three months of sessions after researching options around us, and they selected Ashleigh.   I was skeptical of beginning an exercise program.   We spoke because Ashleigh did not wish to work with anyone who was being forced into a situation and reluctant to commit.  I agreed to commit for the period of training they purchased.  I had a damaged Achilles and was struggling with other medical conditions.

Ashleigh took time to research training for a heart transplant and my other medical conditions. The original workouts were hard.  That was 7 years ago.  We look back and laugh now.   We work on strength, core, balance, and cardio.  We gradually built up from my “heavy” three pound weights with her guidance and encouragement.  We varied the workouts around the house and backyard and even visited the school across the street to utilize some of their equipment.

We moved in 2019 to North Carolina from California and I searched for a similar training option.  I was unable to find anyone with Ashleigh’s qualifications, energy, compassion, and rapport.  We agreed to train on-line until I could find someone locally.  Local trainers were either fully booked or worried about my health issues.  Ashleigh and I agreed to continue the on-line training and I have purchased equipment specifically for workouts.  During our time together I have lost 20 pounds, not an original goal, and built considerable strength which helps me assist around the house, golf, garden and travel, my four passions. I’ve graduated to 15 and 20 pound dumbbells. In spite of being 2700 miles and three time zones apart, our training continues to be successful in improving my quality of life
